LOCATION: Iowa State Fairgrounds (a National Register Historic District), Des Moines, IA
PROJECT DETAILS: GSS managed and negotiated the placement of a 150′ monopole telecommunications tower inside the Iowa State Fairgrounds National Historic District. During this process, GSS worked closely with its carrier client, the State of Iowa Fairgrounds Board, and the Iowa SHPO to secure the placement of the first FCC compliant communications tower within an NRHP District in Iowa. Pre-submission planning and meetings with the Iowa SHPO in the Spring of 2001 paved the way for a timely concurrence and allowed for the tower to be constructed and on-air for the 2001 Iowa State Fair.
